Season 4 recap and what our future holds
If you are new to our blog, we have been traveling full-time in our RV for 4 years, and today (December 30) is our RVersary! This is the day we hauled our belongings into our new tiny home-on-wheels, settled in, and wondered if we just made the biggest mistake of our lives. (Spoiler alert: we didn't). December 30 was the day it all began, although we didn't officially set wheels to pavement until a couple months later. Still, every year on/around December 30, we do a recap blog post and video to talk about our travels, where we currently stand, and what things look like for the future.
The timing works out perfectly because, every year, we return to our home state of Massachusetts to celebrate the holidays with family. We endure late fall/early winter in our RV, stationed in my parents' yard. Then around New Year's, we hit the road once again. This makes December 30 not just our RVersary, but a natural turning point between seasons of travel...at least when things go as planned, which you will see in our previous recap videos isn't always the case.

Season 3:

Last year, we released our video during a very difficult liminal time in our travels. We had just bought land in New Hampshire, the state we always planned to one day settle down. The land purchase set us on our journey towards the finish line of full-time RVing, but we still had a ways to go. We wouldn't be entering the planning/building process for quite a while, and so in the meantime, we decided to continue traveling. We expected things to not change much, except that, upon returning to New England, we would now have 2 home-bases: my parents' yard and our land. Then, in the middle of our holiday stationary time, we lost a member of our travel family, our cat Lily. The emotions of her passing were still very raw during filming, and in the video, we announced that we would be delaying our Season 4 launch to give ourselves time to grieve.
We did eventually set out again, and what came next may have looked like a typical year of travels on the surface. However, underneath it all, we felt like this was the end. We missed Lily, travel burnout was creeping in, and we wanted to begin establishing our lives in NH. Halfway through the year, we decided that we didn't want to wait until we built a home. We wanted to start settling now. We found a rental home and made the switch from full-time to part-time RVers.
Only, a few weeks later, we were back in the RV as though nothing had changed. We're stationary in my parents' driveway for the holidays. And like last year, we're battling our emotions as we plan our next move before the harsh winter rolls in.
Will we attempt to find another rental? Will we stay stationary in our RV and brave the MA winter weather? Or will we set out for Season 5 of travels, a year we never thought would exist?
We answer these questions and more in our recap video, so join us in our beloved Buggy while we talk all things Season 4 and beyond. Click below to watch.
